Police are appealing for witnesses following a suspicious incident in Barton Street on Sunday March 28.
The victim, a 24-year-old man from Gloucester, was walking home from the city centre when he was approached by three youths on bikes at around 3.15am.
They surrounded him and asked for money. After a brief exchange of words the youths all laughed and rode off towards the city centre.
The first suspect is described as a white man, 18 to 20-years-old, 5ft 10 to 6ft tall, of skinny build and he had very short, almost shaven hair.
The other two offenders were both men; one was white and the other was mixed race. All three offenders were riding BMX style bikes.
Anyone who witnessed this incident, or who has any information about it, is asked to contact Gloucestershire Constabulary on 0845 090 1234 quoting incident 109 of March 28. Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
Schools get set for blooming good recycling challenges
Green-fingered Gloucester pupils are being invited to get growing and enter a competition to highlight environmental issues.
Schools in the city can enter the competition to grow wildlife friendly plants and take part in an online quiz about recycling and composting.
The competition is being co-ordinated by Gloucestershire County Council and Gloucester in Bloom.
The questions on the council’s waste education site, www.rfgschools.com, will be based on recycling and composting, as well as sustainability issues.
Cllr Stan Waddington, cabinet member for environment and waste, said: “We’re working hard to find new and creative ways of educating the next generation about climate change and environmental issues.
“It’s essential we teach them to think about their actions and the impact they may have on the world around them.
“On top of the extensive waste education programme Gloucestershire County Council delivers in our schools, this competition will help increase children’s knowledge of recycling, composting and general sustainability issues and hopefully help change their behaviour in future.”
Schools that enter one or both challenges have the chance to win the top prize of a wormery, with a deluxe bird feeder pack as the second prize.
The quiz will be available online from April 19th and needs to be completed by Friday May 28th.
Meanwhile, the plant growing challenge is launched on Monday April 12th, with judging taking place in June.
